What I love

I am a passionate reader who likes to mix science fiction, economics and sociology. Working in the technology sector is a fantastic way to get a front row seat for what shapes and defines our future – it’s fascinating to see how books and real life feed off each other. I also love to cook. Inspired by top chefs, alas I am often reminded that I am an amateur when I fail to prepare the simplest dishes.

Corporates and startups have a lot to exchange

Innovation has long been the prerogative of large corporations, with armies of scientists and engineers working in a centralized fashion. This model has a lot of benefits, but we see startups as increasingly relevant to complement the innovation work of larger groups. Startups are by design incredible innovation agents, lighter and so focused on breaking into their target market that this becomes almost their sole raison d’être.

Cultural differences sometimes make it hard for both worlds to work together, but we don’t believe in a world where one lives without the other. After all, everything from people and money to innovation is going back and forth between them. We focus on corporate/startup collaboration to smooth those flows and make sure both parties get what they need to move forward as efficiently as possible.

We’re insiders and outsiders

Aster Fab is the only advisory company stemming from a Venture Capital Fund. We’ve been scouting, investing in and supporting startups for 20 years. We are uniquely close to the innovators and market-shapers with strong convictions about the evolution of traditional markets. That experience and pedigree conveys credibility to the outside world.

From the inside, it means working with a truly interdisciplinary team 100% devoted to finding the ‘next big thing’. Our relationship with Aster’s investment team allows us to draw on the expertise of professionals with diverse backgrounds and industry focus who concretely complement what we bring as consultants.

Never collaborate just for the sake of it

I believe in being very pragmatic about innovation. We’d never suggest a corporate enter into a collaboration with a startup just because it sounded cool. It needs to be a real win-win relationship at both ends. Startups are solicited constantly by larger groups for a lot of different projects but are rarely satisfied with the way it works and the mid- to long-term outcomes. At Aster Fab we foster meaningful collaborations – ones that endure and bring value to all stakeholders.
