Aster
Aster is a venture capital firm specializing in deeptech, industry, and climate. For over 25 years, we have been backing visionary entrepreneurs who are shaping a better future. Our expertise lies in turning breakthrough technologies into large-scale industrial solutions.
Aster Industrial Ventures
We are raising a new VC fund targeting deeptech startups in their pre-industrialization. We are convinced deeptech startups have a strong enough tech-advantage to have market power, high margins and thus cover VC-financed-capex. What is at stake is to grow industrial tech-powered champions, with manufacturing capabilities based in France, with innovative solutions deployed at scale to make an impact: decarb, health, safety…
Challenge
Over the last 50 years, western countries have become fabless and have shifted their industries to Asia. Over the last 30 years, western VC investors have backed digital companies, forgetting what industry means. You will join us to redefine a VC way to finance heavy industrial capex and deliver outstanding performance.
Focus
We will back deeptech startups from pre-Series A to Series B, growing sales from €500k to more than €10M, building up their industrial capabilities, reaching profitability. All members of our investment team are located on the Atlantic coast, with regular commute to Aster’s HQ in Paris.
Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Principal in our industrial VC fund located in Bordeaux, Nantes, Rennes or Caen. The Principal will be responsible for identifying investment opportunities, running several interviews with targeted entrepreneurs, coordinating pre-investment analytical tasks, contributing to the preparation of the required material for internal committees, providing guidance and support to analysts, and improving investment processes. Beyond investment preparation, the Principal will also work with portfolio companies to regularly provide fresh insights on their competition or benchmarks on specific topics, and help prepare workshops with portfolio companies, Operating Partners and Limited Partners. With the team of analysts, he will also conduct market research, perform financial analysis, and attend industry events.
Qualifications

- Experience in Deeptech and/or Manufacturing sectors
- Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate teams
- Advanced degree in business, engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Fluency in French and English
- Deep conviction for sustainable and climate-focused investments
- Commitment to excellence, always ready to go the extra-mile, desire to make an impact
Aster
Aster is an active venture capital player with more than 25 years of existence and a consistent track record across our generations of funds. We have built our expertise in Climate Tech with investments in the mobility, energy and industry sectors in particular. We finance start-ups at all stages of development, preferably from seed phase, and choose entrepreneurs who make the fight against climate change a priority mission of their projects. Eficia, ekWateur and Betterway are among our most recent success stories.
We are working on raising our next funds, with the ambition of building a leading early-stage European focused Climate Tech VC platform. More broadly, Aster acts as a catalyst for its ecosystem, with Aster Fab, a consulting firm unlocking the net zero transformation of hard-to-abate sectors by tapping into the startup gold mine and Aster Class, a training organization that provides a framework for the dissemination of Aster’s expertise.
